From Wikipedia, Hamachi is a centrally-managed VPN system, consisting of the server cluster managed by the vendor of the system and the client software, which is installed on end-user computers.Virtual Private Network is a secured network which will create a secure tunnel for data transmission and ensure privacy. This type of network is commonly used in corporate environment to enable corporate user to login to their company VPN and use the resources as if they are in corporate LAN Environement.In short, VPN is designed to allow users to use LAN resources thru Internet. Users can do everything as if in LAN after the VPN connection is established thru Internet.

After Hamachi release, it eases the configuration for VPN and allow home users to access their home PC or home LAN as if they are at their house pyhically.

You will required to install Hamachi in every pc on your Home LAN if you want to access all of them remotely. For examples, if you have two home pc and you hope to be able to access both home pc remotely, you need to install Hamachi on both home pc.

After the installation, on the first home pc, you need to create a new network as per following diagram. 

1. In the networking Menu, click 'Create a new network' to create your own VPN Network.
2. The screen beside will appear. Key in your VPN Network name. It can be any name.Key in your own Network password. Whoever that want to join this VPN will be required to key in this password.
3. Access the networking menu again on your second home pc, but for this round, you need to click on 'Join an existing network' to join the network that you previously create.The screen beside will appear, key in the network name and the network password that you previously set.
4. After you join the network, both home pc will be able to view each other in the list of the VPN network 'MyVPN Network'. Right click on the home pc and you do the following option - Ping the pc, Browse the share path of that pc, chat with the users on the other pc or even copy the ip address to other program such as remote desktop.
5. To allow file sharing and remote desktop thru VPN, you are required to allow exception on window Firewall. Go to Start > Control Panel > Window Firewall and then go to Exception tab as the beside screen. Check on 'Remote Desktop' and 'File and Printer Sharing'  to allow file sharing and remote desktop. To remote desktop, copy the ip address from hamachi. go to run in your pc, key in 'mstsc' and then paste the ip address and click connect.

After you had completed the above instruction, you can remote control your home pc and browse your files in your home pc from any part of the world.If you have a notebook with you, you can install hamachi to gain access to the VPN. If you do not have it, you will need to use Logmein.com to access your home VPN network.
